1. Seller and scope

These Terms of Delivery govern the sale of products and services through hakolawood.com. Our full company details — registered name, business ID (Y-tunnus), VAT number and contact information — are set out on our separate Legal Notice page and form part of these terms.

These terms apply to both consumers and business customers, with one important difference: the statutory protections described in sections 9 (right of withdrawal) and 10 (faulty products — consumer rights) apply only to consumers as defined in the Finnish Consumer Protection Act (Kuluttajansuojalaki). For business customers, the Finnish Sale of Goods Act (Kauppalaki) applies instead, and the right of withdrawal in section 9 does not apply.

We sell and deliver within Finland (mainland) only.

2. Placing an order

You order by adding products to your cart and completing checkout. Before you confirm your order, you can review the products, the total price including VAT, and delivery costs. Placing the order requires accepting these Terms of Delivery, and the order button clearly indicates that the order carries an obligation to pay.

A binding contract is formed when you place your order. You will receive an order confirmation by email. If we cannot fulfil an order (for example, an item is unavailable or there is a pricing error under section 3), we will contact you and refund any payment already made.

Products described as made to order / bespoke — including any item where you choose the dimensions (length, width, depth), colour, wood, or finish — are manufactured specifically to your specifications. Please see section 9 for how this affects cancellation.

3. Prices and VAT

All prices are shown in euros (€) and include Finnish value added tax (VAT) at the applicable statutory rate. Delivery costs are not included in the product price; they are calculated and shown separately at checkout before you confirm your order (see sections 7 and 8).

We take care to ensure prices are correct, but in the event of a clear pricing or typographical error we reserve the right to cancel the order and refund any payment. We will inform you before taking any such action.

4. Payment methods

The following payment methods are available, and you select your preferred method at checkout (no method is pre-selected by default):

  • Card payments — Visa, Mastercard and American Express
  • MobilePay
  • Bank transfer — via the online banking services of Finnish banks

Payment is taken in full at the time of order. We do not offer invoicing or other deferred/credit payment.

5. Payment service provider

Online card and bank payments are handled by Paytrail Oyj as the payment service provider, in cooperation with Finnish banks and credit institutions. Paytrail appears as the payee on your bank or card statement and forwards the payment to us.

Paytrail Oyj acts as a collecting payment service provider and is an authorised payment institution, working in cooperation with Finnish banks and credit institutions. Paytrail Oyj will be shown as the recipient on your bank or credit card statement and will forward the payment to the merchant. Paytrail Oyj holds a payment institution licence. In case of complaints, please contact this online store in the first instance.

6. Delivery of orders

Orders are delivered within mainland Finland by DSV as a freight delivery to the address you provide (kerbside delivery). You are responsible for giving a correct delivery address and for ensuring the delivery can be received at the agreed time.

On receiving a delivery, please check the consignment before signing for it. If there is visible damage to the packaging or goods, note it on the carrier’s delivery document at the point of delivery and contact us as described in section 10.

7. Delivery times

Delivery times are estimates and run from when your order (and payment) is confirmed:

  • Standard / stock items: 2–4 business days
  • Made-to-order / bespoke items: approximately 4–6 weeks for production, plus delivery

If a delivery is expected to be significantly delayed, we will let you know.

8. Delivery prices

Delivery is priced by destination zone within Finland. The exact delivery cost for your order is calculated and shown at checkout, before you confirm and pay.

9. Right of withdrawal and cancellation

9.1 Standard / stock items

If you are a consumer, you have the right to withdraw from the purchase of a standard / stock item within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason.

To exercise this right, use the withdrawal function (“withdrawal button”) available in your account and in your order confirmation email, or notify us by any other clear statement. You may also use the standard model withdrawal form. Once you have notified us, return the item within 14 days.

We will refund the payment received, including the original (standard) delivery cost, within 14 days of being informed of your withdrawal — we may withhold the refund until we have received the item back or you have provided proof of return. You bear the direct cost of returning the item. You are responsible for any diminished value resulting from handling the item beyond what is necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning.

9.2 Made-to-order / bespoke items

The right of withdrawal does not apply to goods that are made to order or clearly personalised to your specifications (for example, items where you have chosen the dimensions, colour, wood or finish). This exemption is provided for under the Consumer Protection Act and the EU Consumer Rights Directive.

Because bespoke orders are paid in full and enter production on your specifications, an order can only be cancelled before production has begun. Once we have started manufacturing, the order is binding and cannot be cancelled or refunded. If you wish to cancel a bespoke order, contact us as soon as possible after ordering and we will let you know whether production has started.

10. Faulty, defective or damaged products

If a product is faulty, defective, or arrives damaged, please contact us within 7 business days of receiving it, including a description and photographs where possible. We will assess the issue and then repair the product, replace it, or — if neither is possible — provide a refund.

Transport damage: so that we can pursue a claim with our carrier within their time limits, please report any visible transport damage immediately on delivery (and note it on the carrier’s document), and any damage discovered after unpacking as soon as possible. We will arrange repair or replacement of transport-damaged goods at our cost.

Nothing in these terms limits the statutory rights of consumers. Under Finnish and EU law, consumers are entitled to a remedy for goods that do not conform to the contract, and the seller’s liability for defects extends for at least two years.

11. Complaints and dispute resolution

If you have a complaint, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it directly.

If a consumer dispute cannot be resolved between us, you can contact the Consumer Advisory Service (kuluttajaneuvonta) for advice, and refer the matter to the Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariitalautakunta, www.kuluttajariita.fi) for a recommendation. Before contacting the Consumer Disputes Board, please consult the Consumer Advisory Service.

12. Installation services

Where offered, on-site installation is available within Finland and is charged separately on an hourly basis. Installation labour is invoiced separately from the products so that, where the work is carried out at your home or leisure property, you may be able to claim the Finnish household tax deduction (kotitalousvähennys) on the labour portion. Eligibility and current deduction rates are determined by the Finnish Tax Administration (Vero); please check vero.fi for the current rules.

13. Data protection

We process personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Finnish law. For details on what data we collect, why, and your rights, see our Privacy Policy.

14. Amendments to these terms

We reserve the right to amend these Terms of Delivery. The terms in force at the time you place your order apply to that order. As stated in section 3, we also reserve the right to correct clear pricing errors.

15. Governing law

These terms and any purchase made through this store are governed by Finnish law. Mandatory consumer protection rights available to you under the law of your country of residence are not affected.
